I feel 2026 is going to be the year of streamlining. Over the past years, I’ve bought quite a few cameras and that created a problem. You may have heard about choice paralysis and that’s what I’m trying to get rid of. If I’m being honest, I always choose the same setups: my Minolta CLE as a film camera and a digital counterpart. Depending on the occasion, the latter category is filled either by the Fujifilm X100 or the Sony a6300 (if I need solid autofocus). So the first goal will be to get rid of the things I don’t use that much. Simplify.
The second goal of 2026 is closely related to the first one: some of the gear I own is faulty or doesn’t work at all. Fixing the Sony RX100 a few years ago made me curious about tinkering with electronics. I have a few vintage lenses that could use some love, including the Carl Zeiss Jena 120mm f/2.8 I talked about in this article.
I’m not going to set myself up for failure by having too many goals, so this one is the third and final for 2026: write more. In theory, this shouldn’t be a problem, as I plan to write about the gear I’m letting go, as well as about the items I’m fixing. Looking back at the last year, I’ve written just 34 articles. That’s less than one every week. Let’s see if I can do it at least 52 times.
