The internet comment section is heavily focused on specs, rather than what makes a camera a joy to use. The newly announced Sony A9II is the perfect example. Sony already had a highly praised sports professional camera – the A9 – and they improved upon the things pros need: ergonomics, dust and moisture resistance, faster transfer speeds and an improved mechanical shutter. It doesn’t have the wow factor for the masses. It does however have the “nice” factor for those who need this camera.
They’ll enjoy shooting with their Sony camera. That’s what you should be doing too. Not with a Sony specifically, but with the camera you currently use. I’ve been watching some “old camera in 2019” videos on YouTube and the conclusions are mainly the same: those who are attracted by photography will find the joy of using any camera, not just the latest and the greatest.
Be happy with your camera. Don’t let the specs and the hype get the better of you and your wallet.
Buy lenses!
