I had the September 7 2025 lunar eclipse in the back of my mind for quite some time now. It was an event that was stored in my “for later” part of my brain until the middle of last week, when I started planning.
A few hours in Stellarium, PhotoPills, Google Maps and a few weather apps led me to the Enisala fortress, a place roughly three and a half hours away from my house. It’s a spot I’ve been eyeing for many years, because it’s good for early Milky Way season photography and it has little light pollution. Now I had the perfect reason to visit.
Here’s the story in a few photos. The last two have been edited with Adobe Photoshop
I used multiple photos taken with different settings to get the final two results. This is how I’ll remember the eclipse – being amazed by seeing a clear Milky Way over a blood moon.
